CEP 810 Teaching for Understanding with Technology
Ed Tech Certificate Course
Instructor: Sandra Plair
The focus for this course was to introduce the foundational skills for teaching with today's technologies. It focused on the theories behind teaching and learning with technology with the first introduction to the TPACK way of thinking about technology in the classroom. The course required reflection on both the positives and negatives of using technology in the classroom, how to develop a global network, and exploration of various technology tools. This course forced students to reflect on how technology can be utilized while forcing the exploration of the technology tools in order to fully understand how to implement them within an educational setting.
As a part of this course, we were expected to think and reflect on our personal technology plan and how we see ourselves being technology advocates. Here is a link to my reflective, technology plan blog post.

CEP 811 Adapting Innovative Technologies in Education
Ed Tech Certificate Course
Instructor: Emily Stone
This course dug deeper into the use of technology as a tool for creating meaningful experiences for ALL students. This course explored how to use Universal Design for Learning to create accessible lesson plans for all students while continuing to focus on TPACK. This course also reviewed the instructional platform called a "webquest". The essential components of the webquest were discussed and students were expected to evaluate various webquests for effectiveness. Lastly, the course focused on how to create a stand alone instructional resource and make it available for online access.
Adapting and creating accessible lessons is a passion of mine due to my special education background. One of my main reasons for beginning the MAET program was to learn more about 'mainstream' technology in order to support all learners. Here is a lesson plan example using a Goal-Directed Instructional Design Plan.

SUMMER 2012
CEP 800 Learning in School & Other Settings
Instructor: Danah Henriksen
The main focus for this course was to explore the preconceptions and misconceptions that students often have about content being taught. Students carefully created a lesson relating to a content standard and articulating each section of TPACK.
For my final project, I chose to interview two 5th grade students after their trip to Washington, DC to assess their misconceptions and "take-aways" from the great experience of the class trip. As you can tell from the podcast, even though two students can have similar experiences inside the classroom, their interpretation of the experiences can differ greatly.

CEP 820 Teaching Students Online
Instructor: Ann Heintz
This course focused on the affordances and challenges of teaching online. Students looked at the pedagogical differences in presenting material when teaching online. The course took place in an online platform forcing the students to evaluate the material from a "teacher" and "learner" standpoint. Various learning management systems were explored and students were guided through how to evaluate the strengths and weakness of various systems in a way to best meet the needs of the learners.
As a culminating assignment for this course, I created a moodle Course on Introductory Use of the iPad for Educators. Here is a look at my developer's notebook. This is where I recorded my step-by-step organization of my course. It also shows the interaction with my professor throughout building the moodle course. You can also view my developer notebook without professor comments below.

CEP 815 Technology and Leadership
Instructor: Dr. Nick Sheltrown
In this course, the focus was building the connection between being an educational leader who must understand the connection between technology, teaching, and learning AND be able to convey your knowledge on the subject to others. This course explored various readings relating to leadership both with and without an education focus. It forced students to explore their personal leadership style and explore how project planning and management imperative to making the best decisions about technology.
As a way to explore and demonstrate our understanding of various leadership styles, one of our first assignments was called "Leadership Tweets". We were to pose various educational scenarios and to create "fake tweets" about the scenario from the perspectives of various leadership styles. Click below for my Leadership Tweets.

CEP 813 Electronic Portfolios
Instructor: Patrick Dickson
This course explored creating, managing, and sharing authentic work through creating an electronic portfolio AKA eportfolio in a format that can be easily updated and shared with a variety of audiences. The course focused on reviewing and reflecting on what is "best work'. The course allowed students to not only learn about what to include in an eportfolio, but by the course design of building an portfolio as is went, it allowed for hands on experiences and an authentic audience in the classmates.
The culminating project was an eportfolio that showcased myself - personally and professionally, as well as showcased my students and classroom. The website you are currently viewing was started as the eportfolio for this course and I built on to this eportfolio to create my Capstone Portfolio.
