Making Best Use of the iPad, Apps, and Other Cutting-Edge Technology to Strengthen the Learning of Students with Special Needs
This full day seminar focuses on using various technologies to support diverse learners in grades K-6. The iPad apps are presented and organized according to Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics as well as Science and Social Studies. In addition, specific skills development apps are also included, such as fine motor and sensory. A variety of web tools are also explored, many which are FREE. Examples of practical classroom uses for apps and web tools are given throughout the presentation in addition to ways these tools can help the teacher.
In addition to technology for students, I have included a section of creating your own personal learning network (PLN) to help develop a support network when using these new tools. A plethora of web resources are presented throughout the seminar.

Enhancing Communication in the Classroom
This presentation was for the Kentucky Speech and Hearing Association's annual conference in Lexington, KY on March 1, 2013.
The presentation focused on examples of using various technologies within the classroom to support language developments and enhance communication. Topics discussed were assistive technology, mobile technology, and web tools with a brief section on creating a Personal Learning Network (PLN).
